Project Overview
The City's Lynnfield/Lomond Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) project will expand the capacity of the area’s sewer system in order to eliminate sanitary sewer overflows in the Lomond neighborhood. Impacted streets include Lomond Blvd., and Lynnfield, Sherrington and Palmerston roads.
Sanitary sewer overflows occur when the sewer system is overwhelmed, typically by stormwater, and discharges sanitary waste water into the local environment, sometimes also backing up into residents’ basements. The City anticipates 1,200 households in the Lomond neighborhood will be positively impacted by this project. The project also includes a new water main on Sherrington Rd. and Palmerston Rd.
Residents directly impacted by the construction will receive additional communications from the City. View the presentation slideshow from our community meeting.
Lynnfield Lead Line Replacements
Update 3/7/25: Cleveland Water has started the process of replacing lead water service lines on Lynnfield Rd. between Lomond and Scottsdale. On Monday, March 17, Cleveland Water will conduct exploratory excavations in tree lawns looking for lead service lines. Cleveland Water will cover all holes with plywood. If lead service lines are found on either the city or homeowner's side, they will replace those lead lines within 10 days. Lynnfield residents will receive letters from the City's Department of Public Works.
Detours
Local access will be maintained throughout the project but for through traffic — including pedestrians, cyclists and motorists — there will be detours set up for each phase of construction. The purpose of these detours is to ensure safety for residents and construction crews, while also limiting disruptions to construction. Please follow all posted detours.
