Fireworks
While fireworks are legal in some parts of Ohio, the City's fireworks law continues to prohibit the discharge of consumer fireworks in Shaker Heights. Only licensed exhibitors with a permit from the Shaker Heights Fire Department may discharge fireworks. Read up on this ordinance.
Public notice of permitted (licensed) fireworks display
The Shaker Heights Country Club is planning a fireworks display at a private event on Friday, July 4, beginning at approximately 9:45 pm and lasting approximately 15 minutes. The fireworks contractor was required to submit to the Fire Department documentation of approval from the State Fire Marshal’s Office, a detailed site plan, and verification of the appropriate training and licenses. Once all permitting requirements were met, the Fire Department issued a permit in accordance with local ordinances, which do not prohibit such displays. Additionally, a member of the Fire Prevention Bureau will be present on-site throughout the setup and execution of the display to ensure compliance and safety.
