Refuse collection policy update

Effective January 1, the City will limit the number of times crews will return to collect trash/recycling in cases of obstructed access. Obstructed access means the resident did not place their trash/recycling out for collection or that there is an obstruction, such as a car, preventing access to the trash/recycling. Each quarter, households will be eligible for three second-collection attempts in cases of obstructed access. Once the limit has been reached, crews will make no second-collection attempts for obstructed access for a period of six months. The trash/recycling will be collected at the following week's regularly scheduled pick-up. Crews will leave green tags on front doors in cases of obstructed access. This limit does not apply to pick-ups missed by City crews.
