🌟2025: A Year of Community, Connection, and Collaboration🌟

Moreland Neighborhood Network Logo

There is so much to celebrate from our time together in 2025! The Moreland Neighborhood Network created meaningful opportunities for intentional gathering and neighborly connection throughout the year. From joyful community events to thoughtful healing conversations about trauma, the Network continued to lean in and lead with care—strengthening Moreland as a welcoming, open, and resilient community.

Some highlights from 2025 include:

🎉 Celebrating 10 Years of the Moreland Neighborhood Network
What began as a “Business of the Network” conversation during the July 2024 Neighbor Night came full circle on September 30, 2025, when we gathered to reflect, reconnect, and recommit to the spirit of coming together and supporting one another. Held at the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Community Building—home of Moreland Neighbor Nights—the evening brought together friends, neighbors, and long-standing network members for a night of community and camaraderie.

🌱 Launch of the Leadership Development Series
2025 also marked the creation and facilitation of the long-anticipated Leadership Development Series. This co-created experience laid important groundwork for the future of the Moreland Neighborhood Network. The final session provided a meaningful opportunity for residents and City of Shaker Heights staff to connect, build relationships, and strengthen collaboration.

✨ And now… We Welcome 2026

As we step into a new year, there is much to look forward to—including the launch of the Moreland Mini-Grant Pilot Program and continued conversations around leadership transition with the Moreland on the Move Community Association.

If you are interested in serving, please complete the MOMCA Transition Team Member Volunteer Registration Form. There is more detailed information on the registration form.

It has been our great pleasure to collaborate, grow, and build community with you. We are deeply grateful for your engagement and excited for all that lies ahead in 2026.

With gratitude,
Dawn, Georgina, Laura & Theo

Zoning Changes Proposed for Lee Road

The City of Shaker Heights is moving forward with proposed zoning code changes for the Lee Road commercial district as part of implementing the Lee Road Action Plan.  In creating that plan, we heard from neighboring residents and businesses that the community would like to see mixed-use development with housing as well as new uses such as restaurants on Lee Road.  The proposed zoning changes would create new commercial mixed-use (CM) districts on Lee Road to allow those uses and also address items like setbacks, building height, signage, and spacing between certain types of businesses.

Mark your calendars for a City Planning Commission public hearing on January 6, 2026, at 7:00 pm at City Hall or on Zoom. At that hearing (and at upcoming City Council meetings that will follow), you can get additional information and have opportunities to ask questions and share concerns.

There will be an opportunity to provide public comment during the hearing on January 6.  You may also submit comments/questions in advance by emailing Dan Feinstein at daniel.feinstein@shakerheightsoh.gov or calling (216) 491-1435.

Please follow this link to access the meeting agenda.
