Response to Threats Policy
It is the policy of the Shaker Heights Police Department that members will use only that amount of force which is objectively reasonable, and apply de-escalation techniques when possible, to take a subject into custody or otherwise bring an incident under control while protecting the safety of the member and others. Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS)

License Plate Reader (LPR) Policy
The Shaker Heights Police Department utilizes license plate readers LPRs for crime prevention and investigative purposes. The city currently has 18 Flock brand LPRs and one Leonardo LPR (managed by Cuyahoga County). Access to view photographs of license plates is only shared with local and state law enforcement agencies for 30 days. View the policy in its entirety.
