The Shaker Heights Police Department will host the inaugural Metro Teen Summit on Saturday, May 11, 9 am-4 pm at Shaker Heights Public Library Main Branch at 16500 Van Aken Boulevard. The free event is for youth ages 14-18 and sponsored by NOBLE, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Officers.
The Metro Teen Summit is part of the department’s ongoing effort to build trust and promote communication with young people. The event will feature a keynote address, interactive workshops, and a Community Resource Fair with organizations whose mission is to help young people meet their educational and career goals. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
“Community engagement is a priority for our department and that includes fostering a positive relationship with our younger residents,” says Wayne D. Hudson, chief of police for the City of Shaker Heights. “We’re excited to debut the Metro Teen Summit and bring our youth together with members of law enforcement and the community for fun day of activities and relationship building.”
Youth ages 14-18 can register for the Metro Teen Summit at shakerheightsoh.gov/teen-summit.
