The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the City of Shaker Heights its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The City earned the recognition for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2023.
“The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report,” according to a GFOA statement.
This marks the 17th consecutive year the City has earned the GFOA Certificate of Achievement, the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
In October 2024, the City also received the Auditor of State Award with Distinction for excellence in financial reporting in recognition of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year that ended in 2023.
“Shaker residents are well served by the professionalism of our Finance Department under the leadership of Director John Potts,” said Mayor David Weiss. “Our entire finance team has demonstrated their dedication to accuracy and transparency in accounting and financial reporting as well as the careful stewardship of the City’s finances. It is very gratifying to receive these prestigious awards.”
